Buying A Coffee Machine - What To Look For
Coffee machines and coffee makers are becoming more and more popular these days. Along with that popularity comes a vast difference in both features and design. Here are the top five things to take into consideration when choosing a coffee machine for your kitchen. Remember, don't just go for the cheapest option – a good coffee machine will last for years – a cheap one probably won't.
1. One Cup or More
One cup brewers have become the coffee machine of choice as of late. These machines are particularly useful if you have coffee or tea drinkers in your home with different tastes. By brewing one cup at a time, each drinker is ensured a quality cup of coffee or tea specifically suited to their desires. If variety doesn't matter but quantity does, choose a traditional coffee maker instead.
2. Programmability
If you wake to an alarm every morning and want your coffee ready for you as soon as you're out of bed, a programmable coffee maker will be important to you. Programmable coffee makers are available in various one-cup machines as well as traditional machines. If you wake up at various times throughout the week or don't rely on an alarm clock, programming your coffee maker may actually ruin your cup or pot of brew. The longer your coffee is exposed to air, the more the flavor is lost.
3. Brew Strength
Not every coffee drinker likes strong coffee and not everyone enjoys weak coffee. Having a button that allows you to control brew strength will better suite you if you want to vary the strength of your coffee(s). This is often as simple as pushing a button and adding more water to your cup or carafe.
4. Self-Cleaning
Coffee machines need to be cleaned to maintain their usability and the taste of your drink. If you aren't the type to fuss about cleaning your machine, purchasing one with a self-cleaning cycle is a good idea. If you don't mind cleaning your machine, it is easily done by running vinegar and water through a brew cycle.
5. Color
While the color of the machine may not be important to some, it is of utmost importance to others. Most standard machines are available in black or stainless steel though some manufacturers offer more variety in the colors of their machines. From rich reds to bright blues, modern coffee machines can be found in colors that will match your kitchen décor beautifully.
